Salvo Gangi
Clarinetist, composer, conductor
He studied at “Vincenzo Bellini" Conservatory of Music – Catania, Italy. He specialized at the International School of Musical Specialization (Bobbio -PC) with Hans Deinzer, Fabrizio Meloni and Antony Pay.
He graduated in Theology at “Studio Teologico San Paolo” - Catania, discussing a thesis on sacred music. He studied composition and choir direction at “Vincenzo Bellini" Conservatory of Music – Catania and University of Messina (SSIS). He also studied choral conducting and polyphonic repertoire with the teachers: Bruno Zagni, Walter Marzilli, Sebastian Korn, Elisa Poidomani, Carmelo Crinò, Bruno Tirotta, electronic music with Piero Cusato and Stanislao Giacomantonio.
Recently he has won many awards in composition competitions such as:

Honorable Mention for my piece "Già della notte" for mixed choir a cappella at the Turoldo International Composition Competition (Udine) on texts by Fr. David Maria Turoldo. The piece will be released by Aldebaran Editions - Rovato (BS) and performed in 2023!

As a conductor, He has conducted the mixed choir “San Domenico Savio” since 1999 , and in 2018 he was appointed, with an episcopal decree, Master of the Cappella Musicale Calatina - diocese of Caltagirone (CT). Since 2016 he has been part of the Sicilian Clarinet Orchestra holding the role of President.
He has made numerous recordings (ICOT-Tokyo, Sonitus, Suvini Zerboni, Musicarte, MEA -Ethno-anthropological museum De Mauro) and currently teaches clarinet in state schools and History of Music and harmony at the musical association S.M.U.L., in agreement with the Messina Conservatory of Music.

He has collaborated with the following musicians: Giuseppe Liberto (emeritus master of the Sistine Chapel), Coro Smith College Choir Massachusetts - USA dir. Jonathan Hirsh and Ad Dei Laudeum dir. by Ezio Spinoccia for the Petite Messe Solennelle by G. Rossini. (March 2016); Concert for Soli, Chorus and Symphony Orchestra Amici della Musica (XVI ed). in the IV International Choir Festival and conducted the concert at the Greek Theater of Syracuse in the presence of the President of the European Commission for Immigration; He has collaborated with Armando Krieger; Milen Nachev, Francesco Pennisi, Polina Bakanova, Sandro Chiri, with the “Offerta musicale Ensemble” by R. Insolia, Malcom Arnold Society - England, “Teatro Massimo Bellini”– Catania, Taormina Symphony Orchestra, “Notomusicafestival Symphony Orchestra”; V. Emanuele Theater Foundation – Noto (SR), Dante Alighieri Society, University of Catania S.
